Credits
How Credits Work
Each mention that a listener finds initially costs 1 credit for most platforms. You can check the exact details on the platform page. This happens regardless of whether the mention ultimately gets filtered out or delivered to you.
Credit Consumption Rules
Base Cost
- Platform based, usually 1 credit
- This applies even if the mention is later discarded by filters
AI Filter Usage
- 3 additional credits each time the AI filter processes a mention
- Only charged when AI filtering is enabled for a listener
Why Filtered Mentions Still Cost Credits
Even mentions discarded by negative keywords or other filters still consume credits. This prevents abuse where users might set very broad, common keywords (like "the" or "and") that would generate massive volumes of mentions, only to filter them all out afterward with negative keywords.
Typical Usage Patterns
Most users will not get anywhere close to their credit limit during typical use. Our credit system is designed to be generous for normal monitoring needs while preventing system abuse.
Best Practices for Credit Efficiency
To optimize your credit usage and filter out irrelevant noise:
- Start with broad initial keywords - For example, some keywords we track at Redmonitor are "social listening" and "social media monitoring"
- Use AI filtering strategically - The AI filter is very effective at reducing noise. Important: provide enough context in the prompt. Check also the AI filter page.
- Negative keywords as backup - Resort to negative keywords if you want more control to filter out certain topics
Example Usage
If you set up a listener for "iPhone reviews" with only Reddit enabled that processes 100 mentions:
- Without AI filter: 100 credits (1 per mention)
- With AI filter: 400 credits (100 for mentions + 300 for AI processing)
